Alana Benito on Public Health House

“I chose to live in Public Health House (PHH) my freshman year because I was still not sure what I wanted to get out of my college experience or what I wanted to study. Living and volunteering with PHH really solidified my love for nutritional sciences and wellness. I attended the first PHH alternative break to Baltimore, Maryland and had a chance to experience different types of public health jobs first hand which helped me to decide potential career paths. Through this learning community, I gained leadership roles and, along with those, self confidence as a student, person and leader. I have gone on to become an RA, president of ACTNOW and a member of the Leadership Legacy Experience. I know none of this would have been possible without the PHH!”
